These boys need heart...I get they aren't out of it yet...but....they are only a point off of their pace from last year...seems like the start doesn't matter....play with some damn passion already

I like the forward lines tonight. Just wish Brunner was in on the 4th line over Bernier.

I was also looking at the standings and it's scary that Florida has more points in fewer games played. I get we are pretty close to the play offs but at the same time we our six out of the basement. At what point do we start acting like we are six points out of the basement instead of looking at it as we are close to being in a play off spot. It's the same story as last year. I know for a fact if this team isn't good enough to make it I don't want to be just sitting outside wth a crap pick.

Over-worked goalie. Under-performing offense. Sub-par defense. No heart. No grit. No intensity or urgency. Clueless coach and mindless GM..

Ladies and Gentlemen - your New Jersey Devils!

Did I miss anything?

I don't know if I would exactly complain about the defense. Merril has been out a while and it's filled with young guns. By all means sal and zid have sucked but I don't think our defense as a whole sucks. Everything game Gelinas, Larsson, severson and merril play in leaves them with that much more to grow into next season. I get that cory has also let in a few soft goals but we are leaving him out to dry a lot more it will all balance out and so long as we don't do anything stupid trade wise we should see a huge improvement in next years team. Spot on with deboer and it kills me to rag on Lou but he just continues to baffle. Offensive certainly needs a revamping of under 30 players and the infusion of kids. I think in today's nhl the so called veteran presence can be overblown just look at the Lightning they are playing 38 year old dumpster Fire players over their talented young guns and all of their players aren't justified being on the team for their veteran presence like what seems to be the case in nj

At the point the organization decides it wants to take a backwards step and basically scrap the entire team. No one wants to play for an organization with a defeatist attitude. Tanking is far from a sure thing too, unless you draft a player of the crosby, tavares, toews calibre then the team tends to keep sucking.

That wasn't worded as exactly as I would of liked to but if you keep pretending you are closer to the play offs then you are away for to long it will hurt you. Last same thing oh we are only out of the play offs by x amount of points. I don't think this team needs to tear it down but they shouldn't be passing up decent offers for players when almost everyone can see you aren't going to make it. I can tell you right now if the only plan to improve this season is adding a depth defense man or a third liner then by all means I would rather just trade a player and drop down a few spots and draft a better player for the sake of the franchise. We can sit here and say all you have to do is get to 8 and anything can happen but seriously ? Do we believe that with a forward core as old as ours that we will be able to succeed in a play off format that wears you'd down ?

I don't get the bad vibe around realizing what you have and don't have and what you need and don't need. There has been how many teams that haven't rebuilt in the last 20 years ? Us and Detroit ? So I guess 28 other teams should be embarrassed they eventually had to rebuild or start adding pieces to their future ( collecting picks dumping old player, trading up in drafts, whatever) no one is going to laugh or call us pathetic hell wouldn't be surprised if the likes of some of the greatest hockey minds said its about time because it's clear as day going about business they way we have HASNT been working and it keeps on showing that we are further then everyone in management thinks we are.

Who are we trading that is going to make us that much worse? Schneider? Greene? What decent offers are on the table? Ryder for a 4th maybe?

I wouldn't trade either of those two. But whenever I mention trading anyone it gets talked about as if it's tanking like we are blowing it up right down the bare bones. Clowe might be done forever so I'm sure trading Brunner or ryder would hurt about when we have an injury and are calling up sislo instead of being able to play a Brunner. What is firing the coach going to do ? I don't think it makes us any better. The problem is the offense and it needs to be addressed through a trade or the draft. Free agency is a terrible place to look for top line help. We also really don't know what the market is like. We assume we would get nothing for these players but then teams go ahead and trade similar players for decent value.

The Devils PK has killed off around 20 consecutive penalties since Bryce Salvador went down

And he was supposed to be our penalty killing specialist.

I don't disagree but drafting takes time and you can't force a trade. As for trading brunner, is sislo in for brunner going to cost us that many points? Brunner is invisible most nights. WHich is why his value is minimal anyway. What team could use a pending UFA "scorer" who can't consistently crack a lineup with scoring issues?

I don't think that the only thing the other gms look at when considering a player is how he does on his current team. Their teams aren't the same and he could become more valuable used differently then we do or with a different set of players then we have. It almost seems every deadline the pens are willing to trade for almost anyone who has ever scored a goal to play on sids wing or Genos. If a team is going to trade for Stafford I don't think they are looking at him because of his play on his current team but what he could be on their team. Now they might try to get them for dirt cheap but they all over pay when they get desperate.
